      The 16% short interest might actually work in favour for the bulls. Here's what happens - as the price falls, people buy the stock to cover their shorts, and the stock stops going down. Since 16% short interest is pretty high, this is likely to happen. Doesn't make sense shorting a stock if too many people are shorting it.

      Providing free songs to switch to Microsoft players? Hah, is that desperation or what.

      Microsoft plans to launch the player by year-end - is Apple going to sit still doing nothing till then? Apple has taken the initiative to make its own products obsolete - the iPod mini is a case in point. Surely, they also have a newer iPod coming out for the holiday season.

      I am a college student, and these days you see so many Mac laptops, its quite incredible (I switched to Mac myself a couple of months ago). Apple's new offer of giving free iPod nanos to MacBook buyers is also quite a hit with students. Mr. Ballmer has to think of something other than simply buying users for Microsoft's product.       It's difficult if not impossible to call which stock will or won't outperform the market. I can't say that, but what I can say is TTM is a well-managed, cash-rich company, in the right place at the right time, with valuations that are favourable for the long term investor.

      In either case, to my knowledge TTM is the only automotive component of the "market" or BSE Sensex 30 index - which is weighted in a large part towards oil and gas(Reliance Industries and Oil and Natural Gas Corp.), consumer goods (Hindustan Lever), and IT companies (Infosys, TCS and Wipro).
