Market Gets Nervous About LCD Panels [view article]
I heard that LG is supposed to be introducing a 40 some odd inch OLED very soon... so if that is true then yes LCDs would be a short bet but they could easily make up in sales of OLEDs. This would make sense in that people are trying to make the stock an easier buy at a lower price to take advantage. ReplyMarket Gets Nervous About LCD Panels [view article]
This news is priced in. GLW was already slaughtered from $28 in Mid may to $20. People of course over-react and sell things off when analysts just re-jig old data. This stock is attractive on a valuation basis and should go back up to $24 by Dec-end on holiday shopping. ReplyMarket Gets Nervous About LCD Panels [view article]
Um, I've read 345 message boards today, and they all swear that their stock is down because of [enter any reason, no matter how ridiculous]. The average myopic investor and poster, is convinced that some item they have been thinking about, has appeared to be greater in significance than they thought (ex. your article). You'd have to hang around Charles Barkley in Las Vegas to understand that normal table games are being distorted by desperate big money bets. I normally like your posts, here and on Barron's, but a word of advice. Clear your short term memory through the clever application of Merlot. ReplyMarket Gets Nervous About LCD Panels [view article]

That is an awesome gadget! It is right up there with the Motorokr this phone has crystal talk technology, a Mode-shift feature, full HTML browser, and plays music! Technology sure is growing by leaps and bounds! ReplyCorning: Citi Sees Risks Rising [view article]
Talk about bolting the stable after the horse has left! Look at the chart -- that decline is due to the weak results from the LCD panel vendors over the last month. ReplyCorning: Citi Sees Risks Rising [view article]
I don't think a "hold" is surprising with overall conditions what they are. I own GLW and will hold it. According to figures from S&P, 45% of GLW's sales come from display panels, and that yields 53% of net income. Telecommunications fiber accounts for 30% of sales and 6% of net. Environment products makeup 13% of sales, and life science (5%) and specialty materials (7%) make up the rest of sales. Over 50% of GLW's sales are in Asia. In addition, GLW owns a stake in Dow Corning, and GLW initiated a $500 million buy back last year. The technical analysis for GLW is of course bearish at this time, but what stock isn't? It would be hard to make a case that GLW is a screaming buy now, since overall economic conditions are slowing down. In my mind it is a good "hold," and I will do that in the hopes of better times ahead. If it gets a little cheaper, I will add to my position. wouldn't SKM fit in the 'cheap for Korea' mold? ReplyInvesting in Korea: 4 Stocks, an iShares ETF and a Closed-End Fund (KB, SHG, PKX, LPL, ETF: EWY, CEF: KF) [view article]

Cisco' Quite Cutbacks? Bernanke's Private Horror Stories? Where do you get this baloney? Unverified, low impact, innuendo....geez, I'm just wasting my time reading stuff like this. Do you have any real and actionable information to offer? BTW, try to say things accurately - a 'hiring freeze' is not a 'cutback'. ReplyGuy
