4:03 AM Microsoft (MSFT) files a complaint with European regulators that Motorola Mobility Holdings (MMI), with Google's (GOOG) support, is misusing patents, demanding unfairly high prices from device makers to use standard patents relevant to products like MSFT's laptops and Xbox game console. 7:01 PM Comcast (CMCSA) is suing Sprint (S) over the alleged infringement of patents covering wireless networking technologies. The suit comes comes 2 months after Sprint sued Comcast and other cable providers for allegedly infringing on its voice-over-IP patents. Meanwhile, Sprint, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS (PCS) are continuing their efforts to halt Verizon's (VZ) spectrum/reseller deals with cable providers. 1 Comment

6:45 PM More on Analog Devices (ADI): Q4 misses across the board on lower sales, as customers pared back orders on fears about economy. The company also lowered FQ2 guidance to below Street estimates, noting on the conference call that some customers are still working through inventories. Shares -2% AH. Comment!

6:42 PM Tesla (TSLA -0.8%) shares were off sharply for a while today following a report noting the potential for Roadster batteries to die out (thereby requiring a replacement at a cost of $40K) should they not be charged for a few months, and thus discharge completely. However, shares rebounded after Tesla made an effort to address the issue (albeit without fully denying the problem exists). 2 Comments

6:25 PM Canoe, a $200M interactive TV advertising JV formed in 2008 by the 6 largest U.S cable companies, appears to be falling apart: the company, which sought to serve ads that would give users the option to request additional info, is laying off 120 employees and re-focusing its efforts on creating a video-on-demand advertising platform. Comment!

6:09 PM AMD, recently hit by executive defections (I, II), will provide the graphics processor (GPU) for Sony's next-gen console, according to former employees. AMD currently provides the provides the GPU for the Xbox 360, and will also reportedly do so for its successor, but an Nvidia (NVDA) processor handles the graphics for the PlayStation 3. Comment!

5:54 PM During its FQ1 earnings call, H-P (HPQ) struck a mildly positive tone about U.S. demand, but less so about Europe. The company also talked about how a decline in photo printing (no doubt due to web-based sharing) is hurting sales for its cash-cow printing division, and about how its current cost base is unsustainable. Tableau has made a name for itself by developing powerful, easy-to-use data visualization tools that are embedded into many applications. The company has recently stepped up its efforts to compete in the enterprise, hoping to tap intro frustration over the complexity of rival products from SAP, IBM, and others. Comment!

4:41 PM More on HomeAway's Q4: In spite of posting a small net loss for the quarter, free cash flow was $15.4M (+19% Y/Y). However, the company is guiding for Q1 revenue of $63.7M-$64M, below a $65.7M consensus. Moreover, it expects 2012 revenue of $276M-$280M, below a $284M consensus. With shares trading at over 9x trailing sales going into earnings, there was little room for error. AWAY -7.1% AH. (PR) Comment!
