Linksys Wireless-G is Best-Selling Wi-Fi Router for Electronics Retailers
TickerMine surveyed electronics retailers--including Best Buy (BBBY), Radio Shack (RSH), Fry's, Circuit City (CC), Office Depot (ODP), and Super Warehouse--about their best-selling wi-fi routers.
The best-selling router is the Linksys Wireless-G (56%), followed by the Netgear Rangemax 802.11g (19%) and the Robotics MAXg (9%). Fifty percent of stores surveyed said the least expensive wi-fi router is the Dynex Wireless-G Broadband router. Twenty-eight percent of respondents said their cheapest router is the Linksys Wireless-D, and 22% named the Netgear (NTGR) DG834G. Ninety-four percent of stores said they are not sold out of any of the wi-fi routers they carry.
Customers Prefer MP3 Players over Music Phones, Survey Says; Music PhonesViewed as Pricier with Inferior Sound Quality and Storage
Tickermine surveyed stores selling MP3 players this month including Best Buy, Radio Shack and Circuit City. Our researchers asked respondents which MP3 players sell best, which is the cheapest and between the music phone and MP3 player, which is superior and why?
Thirty four stores were consulted. The iPod (AAPL) was voted the best selling MP3 by 82% of those polled followed by the Microsoft (MSFT) Zune 80 GB (the choice of 12% of interviewees)and then the SanDisk Sansa Clip 2GB (6% stated this as their best seller.) The cheapest selling MP3 player was the SanDisk (SNDK) Sansa Shaker (according to 22 respondents or 65%), the iPod shuffle (cited by 12% of respondents), the Coby Electronic 1GB and the Creative Zen were each cited three times (by 9% of those interviewed).
The iPod Nano was cited twice or by 6%. And the MP3 was thought to be superior over the Music Phone by 62% of those we talked to. 38% preferred the Music Phones because they think the music phone has the phone and music in one, it can multi-task and this makes one less item in your pocket to contend with. Others preferred the MP3 because of its superior sound quality, music storage and price.
